Summer Progam

BCCC Summer Program

You will find a description of our programs and a link at the bottom of each column.

Registration is full for the Preschool Program

We know child development!  Parents trust our center because we provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children, with a focus on developmentally appropriate learning through play.

Our summer preschool program is designed to make the most of the warm weather, sunshine and the outdoors. We emphasize playing active games, exploring nature in our playground as well as some of the city’s parks and playgrounds, small and large group activities, and engaging social skills to build friendships. We take weekly field trips using either the city bus, light rail or a chartered bus.

Our preschool program is designed for children 3 to 5 years old. Children must be fully potty trained to attend.

Previous summer field trips and center activities have included:

• Children’s Museum
• Area libraries
• Swim lessons at the YWCA
• Visits to Longfellow, Hiawatha, Brackett, Cooper & Matthew’s Park
• Minnehaha Park/Wabun Park Pool
• Tamarack Nature Center’s Discovery Hollow
• Structured and open art activities
• Playing outside every day the weather permits on on-site playground

We offer half and full day options for preschoolers. Half days are from 9:00 -1:00. Full day allows you to drop your child off and pick them up between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. (limit of 10 hours a day). Field Trips depart shortly after 9:00 a.m. and return by 1:00 p.m.

Children bring their lunch with them each day.  We are a peanut free facility; therefore, no peanuts can be in any ingredient that is brought into the center.

Summer Scheduling and Fees:

Our summer is 10 weeks in length, June 17 – August 23.  You may request to send your child during any of the 10 weeks within these parameters: you must sign up for a minimum of 15 days with a minimum of two days in any of the weeks you choose.

Once the registration is submitted and you receive your confirmation, this will be your summer schedule.  Families will be billed for the days confirmed on this schedule.  If you decide to drop or alter your schedule after it is submitted, you will still be responsible for paying for what was originally confirmed.

The first half of your tuition is due by June 20 and the second half is due by July 18.  Note: if your child does not attend days after July 18 you will be responsible to pay the complete bill by June 20.  A 5% discount will be given to families who choose to pay their entire summer tuition by June 20.  There is a $30 late fee for payments received after the stated dates. Any tuition not paid by the due date may warrant BCCC to drop your child from the class in which they are enrolled.

Note: If you are a new family and are signing up your child to ease the transition into fall preschool, our experience shows that signing your child up for weeks that are close to each other has proved a more valuable experience for the child as opposed, for example, to signing up for one week each month.

Summer Fee: $25 per child

New Children: one-time registration fee of $60.  After a confirmation from the office is sent to you, a completed packet of paperwork, minus the contract form, will need to be submitted. The packet can be found at this address: http://www.bethlehemkids.org/tuition-and-fees/  Please be sure to choose the packet for the 2018-19 school year.

A 5% discount will be given to the second, and subsequent child(ren) enrolled in a family. The discount will be applied to the tuition(s) of lesser amounts – if the amounts vary.

BCCC will be closed July 4 & 5 as well as August 26 – August 30

The following are enrichment activities that will also be part of our summer program:

Wednesday: Summer Games, June 19 – August 7 (7 weeks- no Summer Games on July 3)

All children will participate in large muscle games at Cooper Park. Mr. Mike, P.E. Teacher, will be leading the weekly activities made up of various skills/sports for each of the 7 weeks.  Children should come dressed in clothes and shoes that allow them to run and play!

Friday: Swimming Lessons, June 21 – August 16 (8 weeks, no lesson on July 5)

BCCC staff take all children to the Midtown YWCA for swimming lessons on Friday mornings. Lessons will be conducted by swimming instructors from the YWCA, with low teacher to student ratio and classes divided by age and ability. These lessons are offered at no extra charge to families who enroll for 4 or more Fridays in which swim lessons take place.  If you decide to drop below 4 days of attendance on these Fridays, at any time during the summer, you will be charged $60.  Children enrolled for 4 or more Fridays will automatically be enrolled in swim lessons by our office staff.

Children attending 1, 2 or 3 Fridays will not be enrolled in swimming but will go to the YWCA with their class – the BCCC staff will bring along alternative activities for them to play with during lessons.

We look forward to a wonderful summer!

BCCC Summer School Age Program

Expect a fun-filled summer adventure for your school age child! Explore the City is an opportunity for your child to experience the city they live in first hand. Our experienced staff will lead the children on field trips in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. We balance our field trips by going on both cultural experiences and playful excursions.

Previous years field trips and activities have included:
• Explore museums/theaters like Science Museum, James J. Hill, & State Theater
• Visit parks and playgrounds in Minneapolis and St. Paul
• Swim lessons at the YWCA
• Visits to Farmer’s Market & Wild Rumpus bookstore
• Exploring the Mississippi river front
• Highpoint Printing Making Center
• Daily K.B.A.R.: Kick Back and Relax -time read age appropriate, engaging books
• Play and make your own board games
• Experience structured and open-ended art activities

Parents trust our center because we are a safe, nurturing environment for their children with a focus on developmentally appropriate learning through play. Our school age program is designed for children who have completed kindergarten through the summer after 5th grade.

Due to the nature of our Explore the City summer program, we only offer full day (7 a.m. – 6 p.m.- max of 10 hours) options for School Age children. Plan to have your child at the center by 9:00. Children will be back at the center no later than 3:30 p.m. Please keep this time in mind when you schedule appointments. In the past families have made special requests, asking the staff to allow their children to be dropped off or picked up while students are on a field trip. This has proven to be difficult to accommodate and will no longer be an option for families. Our goal isn’t to be uncooperative. We need to assure the safety of all children and staff in our care. Of course, if children are at the center you can pick up earlier then 3:30.

Children need to bring their lunch and water bottle every day. We are a peanut free facility; therefore, no peanuts can be in any ingredient that is brought into the center.
